Overseas Community Project

Recently been thinking about it for a long time for an overseas community project. Looking at articles and pictures that magnify the degree of suffering people are going through in less-privileged areas really pushes me to do something. And i know that i can do something. Reminiscing about the past ocip trip to thailand, i can recall the profound effect our trip had on the childrens lives, even if it was only a matter of days. The amount of growth , knowledge and experience we gained was also tremendous, providing us fresh perspectives on life and moulding ourselves into better persons.

Being in the army has really many many limitations. Kicking this plan into action can only start after i leave, and that will mean another waiting of 200++ days for november to come. And the youth community we have here are bound by specific schedules installed by the government. So the best time for such a trip to happen will be during may/june period next year, where the local Unis are taking holidays and there will be a wealth of manpower to choose from.

Currently have looked through a few aid organisations, and one looks particularly endearing.
Buckner (www.itsyourmission.org) focuses on less-privileged children and orphans around the world and they have a very stable organisation and capable leadership. With the amount of credentials and experience under their belt, it would no doubt be a great choice to partner for community projects.

Lets pray and hope i can find masses of like-minded , capable and nice people to work with on this trip. Im pretty set on embarking on this project, although im saying this as i stare at the tons of problems i have to solve. So be it, what great undertaking is not accompanied by challenges. Its the way you solve these challenges that define the greatness in you. However it turns out, it will definitely be a positive learning experience and a foundation to build on. Furthermore, i believe as long as the spirit of helping others is passionately burning inside, no problems will prove insurmountable and things will eventually pull through.

Thinking about all aspects of the trip just gets me so hyped up. From pre-trip planning, choosing the team, procuring sponsorship, meeting like-minded people to actually going there and helping the disadvantaged, making a difference, making a personal odyssey of change, trying new things and getting new experiences is simply out of this world. Every stage is filled with challenges and excitement. What an experience it will be.

Soon, it will happen. Hop on.

Change

Are you tired of being what you are?
Are you tired of being what you are not?
Trapped in a life of mediocrity
confined by rules and hierarchy
limited in skills and abilities
going through the motion of everyday drudgery
working for something you never believed in
Putting your dreams aside for the sake of your next paycheck

Or would you rather die without an impression on the world
Leave your dreams caged in your own prison of insecurity
and continue toiling for a lost cause?

Make a Change to yourself
to the World
Stop existing, start living!Make a difference ,contribute,
Change.
Take a look at this inspiring video

A tribute to the inspiration you brought millions of people
There are no dreams that are not worth the fight. Dreams are what man stood for.
Find yours, and work towards it, for life is made for the adventure of realising your dream.
Time is your budget, stop wasting it!

Nothing can stand in your way for limits are but lines drawn upon you by yourself,
and impossible is a word conjured by the weak-willed for the gullible.
Dream the dream, engineer its birth and assemble the team.

A Song by F.I.R which complements the above.

A war is not lost so long as there is one soldier left committed to its cause
A dream is worth fighting for so long as there is one man hanging on to his beliefs.

Leadership

Many a times I wonder...

How do leaders become leaders?
Through great leadership? Charisma? Ability? Vision? Spirit?

For many leaders out there....None it seems.
Each of the above is a mark of great leaders.Even one of the traits would be enough to enthrall and attract followers to do their bidding willingly.
Yet, many in leadership positions nowadays simply do not have what it takes anymore. How they survive the climb up there is a conundrum to me. Perhaps the 'leaders' who train these would-be leaders are identical to their trainees linking a whole chain of inept leadership system. This is especially inherent in the army. Not many people can change it, but those who can i hope they take notice soon, because the word leader is being vilely corrupted by the likes of these people.

Many a times...

The cost of choosing not to lead is to be led by your inferiors.

An Evil Leader whose death brought life, but a leader nonetheless
Adolf Hitler

A leader who led to the death of thousands and impoverished millions, but a leader nonetheless
Mao Zedong

An inspiration born in the darkest hour.
A True Leader.
Sir Winston Churchill

Value

Just heard a story of interns getting bullied...Some afterthoughts...

True value of you is how you see yourself.

To all people with low esteem and low self-confidence...You have value.
Show them what you can do.
Never be limited by your position, status, or what people say.
Limits are but lines you draw upon yourself.
Do what you think is right

1)Stop thinking you are a nobody
2)Challenge yourself
3)Be somebody

The One Choice

Some brief revelations...
No one is born doomed to mediocrity. Its a choice you make between the failure/success package and the mediocre package.

Mediocre package.
Maths Eqn:0+0+0+0+0+0+0=0
Mediocre=sad existence=better off dead
Nothing will ever change. No progress, no learning experiences.
On the other hand,
No responsibility,no blame, no expectations, no pressure

Failure/Success Package
Maths Eqn:Failure+Failure+Failure+...+Failure=Success
Success doesnt come easily. It is the result of failures.
Are you ready to Fail?
To take the blame?
To take the responsibility?
To work doubly hard?

Make the right choice.
Stop languishing in mediocrity.
You never know what you can do until you try.
